Hilary Swank, Oscar winner, has filed for divorce from husband Chad Lowe, after a few months of separation, citing the ever so popular irreconcilable differences. The couple seemed to still hold hope they would reconcile after they separated in January, but alas they have both decided to permanently call it quits.
Ah, I really thought they had a shot in hell in Hollywood - they seemed so happy. Guess we still have Tom and Rita to look to for comfort and reassurance.
The couple was married for eight years.

I have to disagree with the bad reviews that seem to be pouring in for X-Men 3 The Last Stand. Everyone seems to be complaining about the plot and character development, so I went in to this movie today thinking I was going to hate it, or be extremely disappointed after being pleasantly surprised by the first two.
I like X-Men one and two. And I really liked the final installment too. It had everything. I think the story was good, the character development was fine, and the special effects as usual, were excellently done. Many fans complained that the new additions to the story, The Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Juggernaut, Kitty Pride, Colossus (although he was in the last one, but had a bigger part in this one), Angel, and the morphed and evil Jean Grey, now called the more powerful Phoenix were not fleshed out enough. But did they really have enough time in two hours to adequately show the existing XMen character’s stories, and flesh out new characters as well? I don’t think so.
The decline of Jean Grey into a power hungry psychic with unparalleled powers was actually kind of sad, and we see the longing between her and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) quickly evolve into full blown lust.
I don’t want to give the story away, but unless you are an anal comic book fan, you WILL enjoy this movie, and not have a problem with it’s comic book inaccuracies. Go see it, don’t believe the bad reviews.

Got a new movie review for you. It’s on the latest King Kong movie, by Lord of the Rings “legend” Peter Jackson. By the way, have you seen him lately? He lost over half his body weight and looks like a completely different person. Word is, Peter has had gastric bypass surgery to achieve his phenomenal weight loss. I’m not kidding - wait til you see him….
But I digress. Back to the movie review. King Kong, I can tell you this first off, is way too long. I’m not sure who was in charge of editing this movie, but it is L-O-N-G! Aside from the first hour moving very slowly, which I forgive because it is spent building up the character - Naomi Watts plays Ann and Adrian Brody plays her love interest Jack, a writer. Most of this movie is a love story, partly between Jack and Ann, and partly between Ann and King Kong himself.
The special effects are riveting at times, but grow tiresome at times as well, namely a scene where Jack Black’s director character and his men, including Jack get attacked by about ten different species of huge bugs. While I’ll say that it achieved it’s desired effect, to give you the heebeegeebees and make you think you have a bug crawling on you, the scene gets a little too long and I found my mind drifting off.
I like Naomi Watts’ acting though, and I have to say she stole the show (well, Kong stole the show actually, as did the other famous animated character Peter Jackson brought to life, Smeagol or “Gollum” in his LOTR trilogy). Other than my few critiques, I have to say I did enjoy the movie though.
My biggest complaint would be the length (could have easily taken at least an hour off this movie and still told a good story), and at times Jack Black’s director character got a little annoying, but that might just be me!

No Doubt’s frontwoman and fashionista Gwen Stefani, one of my favorites, gave birth to a baby boy today. The baby is the first for her and husband Gavin Rossdale, front man for the rock band Bush (are they even still together?). Gwen is 36, proving that 40 is now the new thirty, and that woman can still look awesome at any age - not that 36 is old, otherwise, I’d be getting up there!
KINGSTON JAMES McGREGOR ROSSDALE was born by by C section at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center he weighs 7.5 pounds. Hopefully he’ll get his daddy’s good looks, and his momma’s sense of style.

It was just discovered that Columbia Pictures has purchased the rights to start making a movie for the prequel to the popular “DaVinci Code” book “Angels and Demons”. They are supposedly going to give DaVinci star Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard the first dibs on the movie version of the prequel, but there is no final word yet.
I guess that even after all the negative reviews, “DaVinci” is still doing well at the box office. It made $77 million it’s first weekend alone. We’ll see if it keeps going strong…

Now I don’t actually watch American Idol, but enough people at my job talk about it, that I know exactly who the contestants are, their personalities, the songs they’ve sang in the contest, and who got voted off every week. So, I guess I saved myself a few precious hours every week, huh?
Well, they’ve now picked the newest American Idol - Taylore Hicks. The guy who looks like he’s about forty, but is actually only twenty eight years old (I guess the cutoff age for AI is 28, so Hicks just made it).
Taylor was the favorite pick to make the new AI title, but everyone had different opinions of who should win. Apparently Taylor had a much better personality than the other seeming “shoe in” Katharine Mcphee, the girl who looks the part, but reportedly lacked the lungs to go all the way.
63 million votes were cast by the American public to get the newest AI. Taylor has been known for his wild dance moves and good personality. He acknowledged the “soul patrol” his affectionately named fans when he was overcome with emotion by the choice.

Nicole Kidman, the once divorced ex wife of Tom Cruise, has decided to give the marriage thing a second go with country singer Keith Urban, and the couple have made a mutual decision not to sign prenuptial agreements.
Reportedly, Keith and Nicole have very similar incomes, so the risk may be equal for both of them. Hopefully, this is a sign of true love. Prenups do tend to take all the romance out of a relationship, don’t they? I for one am glad Nic is getting a second go at love - seems like she wasn’t given a fair shot with Cruise, her first husband, and was shocked when he wanted a divorce.
I also like Nicole because she didn’t go out and date everyone and anything in sight right away after her divorce, as many other Hollywood divorcees do, but this classy lady stuck it out, and was tastefully discreet in her dating and love life.

Natalie Maines apparently likes to voice her opinions, and isn’t afraid of who she’ll offend - it’s all part of her rock ‘n roll persona - even though her group’s music is really considered in the country category by most.
Maines said that after she made the comment about 3 years back at one of their concerts that she was ashamed she was from Texas, the same state our president is from, she realized what the country music market was really made of, after losing thousands of fans.
Maines further stated that she didn’t want to be a part of the country music industry to begin with because it just “wasn’t her”, and added that she was ok with not being in with those fans any more, because she couldn’t live a lie.
The Dixie Chick’s new album, “Not Ready to Make Nice” has had disappointing sales so far, and has been dropped by many country stations who deem it too politiccal, and are disappointed that the Chick’s chose not to put all the political stuff behind them.

This June 30th one of the most anticipated “Summer Blockbusters” is coming to theaters - Superman. The virtually unknown actor Brandon Routh plays the man of steal - and from the looks of the previews, he’s a dead ringer for the superhero - at least the younger version of him in the comic books.
I’m pretty excited to see this movie, especially since Bryan Singer will be directing - although I am kind of bummed he’s not still directing the X Men series, so I’m not as excited to see the new X Men movie now. I do have to say, I’m not so sure about Kevin Spacey as Lex Luther since his acting seems a little over the top per the extended preview I saw online the other day.
I’m also not a big fan of Kate Bosworth (Blue Crush, Wonderland - both so-so performances in my opinion). So that’s two strikes against it, but I still have faith that the newcomer as Superman will lend some creidbility to the innovativeness of the new movie. I’ll be reviewing the movie as soon as I see it, which should be opening weekend.

Reportedly Tommy Hilfiger and Axl got into a little spat recently at a swanky club called “Plumm”. But this one sounds like it’s all Tommy Hilfiger’s fault. Axl Rose said he moved Tommy’s girlfriends drink out of the way because it looked like it might spill. Tommy reportedly told him to put it back and smacked Axl’s arm. He didn’t just smack it once, he smacked it repeatedly.
Sounds like Axl didn’t fight back either. Maybe Axl’s become a lover, not a hater? Axl was scheduled to perform that evening at the club and dedicated the first song to his “crazy friend” Tommy Hilfiger. This sounds more like a catfight than two dudes fighting to me!
