  • Nicole Kidman’s Not Pregnant!

    August 31st, 2006

Recent photos of a pregnant “looking” Nicole Kidman have surfaced in some of the tabloids lately, leading readers to believe the just married Aussie really is preggers. Her reps deny it, saying that the photos were clearly doctored in an effort to make the actress look pregnant, to sell more magazines.

Her rep even went as far as to say she’s recently seen the actress, and she is definitely not pregnant, and is her usual slim self. Why does the media rush this stuff? For God’s sake, let the woman enjoy her new marriage before you start talking pregnancy!

    Bruce Springsteen Denies Split

    August 30th, 2006

Recent rumors have been circulating that “The Boss” Bruce Springsteen and his wife of 18 years, Patti Scialfa have split up, and he was leaving her for a 9/11 widow he met while organizing a 9/11 charity event back in 2001.

Well, Bruce says it’s not so.  He posted on his website that he an his wife are still very much together and committed to one another, and that they have been the best 18 years of his life.  Good, these two seem right together.  Don’t want to see the breakup of two nice people.

    Faith Hill Gets “Self” Nod

    August 29th, 2006

Forever nice, humble and down to earth country star Faith Hill seems to have it all.  Self Magazine even recently voted her as one of the most inspiring “real” women recently.  And there’s a reason for that.

Hill has 3 adorable little girls, a loving (and hot) husband, and also finds time to work on various charities that are close to home and close to her and her husband’s heart.

They even started up their own subdivision to make sure the money they raise goes to the right organizations, since we all know so many of these charities get lost in bureaucracy and very little money ever actually reaches those in need.

Faith has always demonstrated a down to earthness, and has maintained a real sense of who she is, while also maintaining adoring fans and a family whom she is determined to raise “normally”, with chores, responsibilities and a sense of working for what you want.  I agree with Self’s pick, she’s inspiring to me!

“24″ Takes the Emmy for Best Drama Series

    August 28th, 2006

OK, OK, am I missing something here? I started off as a huge fan of the drama/action series “24″ from season 1, and consistently notice a decline in the writing and acting in the show, yet it’s viewership is higher than ever, and it’s receiving more critical acclaim now than it ever did.

I personally don’t watch the show any more when it became so ridiculous that I couldn’t watch it without laughing at the improbability of the scenes that played out. And, come on writers - does EVERYONE have to have ulterior motives in this show and turn out to be the bad guy?

Apparently America feels differently than I, since Keifer Sutherland took home the best actor in a drama series award, and the show itself won for the best drama series category - over the Sopranos, which I don’t get at all.

    Megan Mullally Takes Home Emmy

    August 27th, 2006

Will and Grace overnight sensation character “Karen” actress Megan Mullally, a notoriously down to earth actress (see previous post), took home the best supporting actress Emmy today.

    Grey’s Anatomy an Emmy Favorite?

    August 27th, 2006

It looks like the hit hospital drama “Grey’s Anatomy” with some of the newer, sexier up and coming stars, is going to be a favorite pick for this years Emmy award for best  drama.  So much so, that it may even be favored over the traditionally critically acclaimed “West Wing” night time drama.

It’s also got competition in a show that has gained more audiences and more critical acclaim in the past year than it’s ever had, despite my opinion that it’s old and tired, and not nearly as good as when it first started - “24″.

As best comedic actor in a series, Steve Carrell, a well deserved contender and overnight Hollywood sensation, looks to be a favorite pick for best actor in a series.  I hope he wins!  He really brings a lot of new material and a new character to tv, which is a welcome change in today’s ho-hum television.

Will and Grace’s Megan Mullally Spouts on Hollywood and Weight

    August 26th, 2006

I love Megan Mullally.  I have to admit, when I first saw Will and Grace, way back when the show first debuted, I thought her voice as the selfish and materialistic narcissist Karen, was extremely annoying, but the more I watched the show, I loved how she shaped the character into someone you actually think you might know.

Not only that, I love her attitude about Hollywood, her normal attitude about life and fame, and her outspokenness about the pressure to be thin in Hollywood.  In a recent interview with Self Magazine, Mullally sounded off on the pressure she felt early in her career to fit some sort of ridiculous Hollywood weight standard, so she could get more roles and gain the approval of studio heads who were telling her she needed to be thinner to be considered for a wider variety of movie roles.

She says that early on, she would work herself into such a frenzy over maintaining or losing a certain amount of weight, that she couldn’t even enjoy life.  She found she was working out twice a day just to maintain some ridiculous standard that obviously was not meant to be her body type.

In the end?  Megan decided that being curvier was true beauty.  Not only that, she says her husband loves her shape and the fact that she’s got a sexy and curvy figure.  I for one think she is beautiful!

Zombie Movie Veteran George Romero At it Again?

    August 25th, 2006

Zombie horror movie originator George Romero, of the famed ” Dawn of the Dead” and Day of the Dead series, only one of which was actually watchable in my opinion, has signed on to make a movie that’s reportedly a cross between “Blair Witch Project” and the famous Day and Dawn of the Dead series.

They convinced a small movie maker to make the film for 5 million dollars or under.  Shouldn’t be too hard, considering that the others have all been typically low budget since he started making the zombie series years and years ago.

I’m not too anxious to see this, I’m sorry to say, after I switched off Romero’s latest foray into the horror world “Day of the Dead” which had horrible dialogue and a laughable plot and script.  Oh yeah, the acting sucked too.  Maybe I’ll netflix it when it comes out, who knows!

Carmen and Dave : What Went Wrong?

    August 23rd, 2006

No one is exactly sure what went wrong in the marriage between Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra, but here’s what I think.  Hollywood marriages are just hard.  Relationships in general are hard enough to begin with, but mix in the bigger than life egos of Hollywood celebs and the time away from one another, not to mention the ridiculous amount of temptations they are surrounded with every day, and you’ve got a recipe for a failed marriage.

That is, unless you get a level headed couple who stays as far out of the spotlight, parites and events of Hollywood as possible.  It seems Carmen and Dave couldn’t give enough of that up - the career part - for eachother.  It’s been said that long times away from eachother and conflicting schedules made for a tough time in their marriage, and the couple denied rumors of a rift for months before they actually split.

These Hollywood people don’t understand that time is the key.  If you don’t spend time together and ditch the egos and some of the career aspirations, you’re never going to have a working relationship.  Period.

Courtney Cox Back on TV with “Dirt”

    August 21st, 2006

Courtney Cox said she had no intentions of coming back to the small screen - AKA, television, but when a script for a female character came up on a show that she and husband David Arquette were writing came up, she said she couldn’t resist.

The new show is called “Dirt” and is all about the paparazzi.  Cox will play an chief editor for one of the biggest tabloid magazines in the US and it will center around the paparazzi’s chasing of actors.

Courtney said she may just use some personal experiences for the show, including her own experiences of being hunted by the paparazzi when she was pregnant with her daughter Coco.  By the way, Courtney looks great - marriage and motherhood must really be agreeing with her.  She looks more beautiful than ever.
