Clay Aiken Brushes Off Gay Question
September 25th, 2006Diane Sawyer recenlty interviewed the singing sensation Clay Aiken, who has been the subject of tabloid frenzy over his sexuality (is he gay or isn’t he), since he came in second to Ruben Studdard on American Idol back in 2003.
Sure, Clay acts the part and looks the part of a homosexual man, but he has become tired of so much attention being focused on his sexuality instead of his talent that he kind of let Diane Sawyer have it for asking him in an interview. I agree with Clay. While I admit, I am curious about his sexuality, I really don’t care one way or another.
I personally do not happen to be a fan of his music, but if I were, his sexuality would not influence my admiration for his craft at all. I think we’ve become such a hyper sexualized culture that all anyone ever thinks of in Hollywood and entertainment is “who’s sleeping with who” who’s gay, who’s straight, who’s this way sexually and that way, that we’ve lost touch with the important things, like why this person has captured attention in the first place - talent.
