“Firewall” Sucked
February 20th, 2007I tried watching the Harrison Ford movie “Firewall” on HBO the other night while I was preparing my taxes, and man, I just could not keep interest in this dull, formulaic movie. I love Harrison Ford, always have. I’ve been a huge fan of him ever since his Star Wars and Indiana Jones days, but this movie just seemed like it was thrown together without much thought, and actually was very predictable.
Paul Bettany, the British actor perhaps best known for his role alongside Russell Crowe in a Beautiful mind as his imaginary friend, plays the villain in this movie, and we quickly find out that he is the villain, all with some poorly thrown together foreshadowing at a meeting in a fancy restaurant where Bettany seems to all but come out and say he is the villain before we find out for sure. Again, predictable.
I think this movie could have been better, perhaps if it was a little grittier, and not so family friendly, but during the movie, I was not convinced that this man and his family were in iminent danger, nor did I care if they were. The kids were actually annoying, the wife, played by Virginia Madsen, whom I usually like, just wasn’t given much to work with. In short, I thought it was a dud, and ended up turning it off about 45 minutes into it.
