“Dog Soldiers” Was Horrible
August 7th, 2007I got very excited when Netflix recommended a slightly Indy movie that others with similar taste to mine liked. It is a relative unknown, but it is in one of my favorite genres, horror, and it was billed as a good werewolf horror movie that was about a group of militants sent in to a remote area to fight an enemy that they did not know turned out to be werewolves.
The reviews I read from fellow Netflixers was that it was a pleasant surprise, well acted and flowed well. It was none of the above. The dialogue, which was hard to understand Scottish, was actually very juvenile and just trying too hard to be vulgar “guy talk”. The soundtrack seems off from the movie, and the shooting is extremely freshman in its efforts.
We turned the movie off after fifteen minutes because we just knew that there was no saving grace at that point, and we actually laughed a few times when we shouldn’t have at the sheer ridiculousness of the dialogue. My advice, if you’re looking for a good werewolf movie, check out The Howling or Silver Bullet. I was hoping this would be a good new werewolf movie but was sorely mistaken.
